INDOT says the $19.6 million project rebuilding six bridges at the southside interchange is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

The study, done by an outside consulting firm, was provided this week to the governor, the budget committee and the legislative council.

The study will include most of I-65 and I-70 across Indiana and I-94 in northwestern Indiana. INDOT said last week it also wanted to take a closer look at possible tolls for I-465.

The planned project would add a lane for both northbound and southbound traffic on a 7-mile section between Pendleton and Anderson.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says the $2 million project will begin as early as December and should be complete by next summer.

Tolls began Dec. 30 on three bridges connecting Louisville, Kentucky, and southern Indiana.

To qualify, communities need to design, develop, purchase land and bid out the projects within five years.

The state reached an agreement last month with private developer I-69 Development Partners and its bondholders to take over construction of Section 5.

The plan would result in 10,000 miles of existing highways being resurfaced and about 1,300 bridges being repaired or replaced.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says crews will begin work this weekend to repair and resurface various Interstate 69 ramps at the I-465 and 82nd Street interchanges.
