The Indiana Department of Transportation is shifting its speed cameras to a new highway work site as it continues to refine the system.

The Indiana Department of Transportation began its limited pilot program Wednesday with speed cameras in just a single construction zone.

The ramp from 56th Street to northbound Interstate 465 on the northeast side of Indianapolis will be closed for two years.

The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to reopen Interstate 70 westbound through the North Split interchange this weekend.

The job, which lasts five months, involves repairing traffic signs, snow removal and other duties. It starts at $20 an hour. There are also a limited number of on-call snow plow driver positions, which make $24 per hour. Commercial Driver's Licenses are required for all these jobs.

Roads, just like people, have a lifespan. They have to be funded and maintained, which falls under the care of the Indiana Department of Transportation.

In many rural communities in Indiana, there is a gap in transit between and within communities.

The Indiana Department of Transportation said 10th Street will close on Monday, July 18, between Bellefontaine Street on the west and Dorman Street/Massachusetts Avenue on the east. It's expected to reopen in September.

Nearly 60 percent of the chargers would be located in disadvantaged or rural communities. But disadvantaged can mean many things -- it doesn't have to mean racial or ethnic diversity.
