The Indiana Department of Transportation says it will close portions of Interstate 65 in Indianapolis beginning July 1, and anticipates opening the interstate back to traffic on Aug. 5.

Wednesday's open house and presentation focused on INDOT's "System-Level Analysis" conducted in response to community input on the future of I-65 and I-70.

The project is nearly two years behind schedule, but INDOT says it's confident it'll meet its August deadline.

Continued construction on a major interstate is causing headaches for those attending Indiana University's commencement ceremonies this weekend.

Maintenance crews will begin filling potholes on the interstate around 8 .m. on Monday.

INDOT says a formal groundbreaking ceremony for the project is planned for April 6.
