Drivers will find more road construction and closures on the city’s northeast side.
Indiana Department of Transportation spokesperson Kyleigh Cramer said the ramp from 56th Street to northbound Interstate 465 will be closed for two years.
“To kind of make this a more efficient and safe corridor. We are working on different ramps as well. We're looking at different areas to kind of improve just the mobility of people and motorists,” Cramer said.
INDOT is not recommending a detour route around the closed ramp.
“Because there's so many local roads around it, that we don't want to put a bunch of people on one local road and enforce these people on the local roads and traffic on the local roads,” Cramer said.”So we're telling people to find the best route for themselves.”
The closure is part of the Clear Path Project which aims to improve safety and traffic flow with added lanes on I-465 and improving the interchange with I-69 on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
