Indianapolis teen Cole Momcilovich created an app to help kids in Marion County access free meals during the summer.

In partnership with Indy Parks, Indianapolis Animal Care Services is offering a free pass into Eagle Creek Park for anyone participating in the Freedom for a Day Program.

A $9.2 million Lilly Endowment grant will help pay for the restoration of the Thomas Taggart Memorial at Riverside Park.

A new study of the 100 largest U.S cities shows Indianapolis parks fall below the national average. Only, 32 percent of residents live within 10 minutes of a park -- the national average is 70 percent.

The initiative will give Indianapolis children the opportunity to plant and grow the food to be used in Summer Servings and After School Meals programs.

At the Summer Servings event in Riverside Park, local kids and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett ate lunch together.

The incident occurred Saturday at the Indy Island Aquatic Center at Raymond Park. Witnesses told investigators the boy may have suffered a medical incident that caused him to go into the water.

Trees without decorations can be dropped off at several Indy Parks locations through the end of January.

Kids ages 18 and under can get free meals through the Summer Servings program.
