Free Park Pass For Freedom For A Day Dogs

In partnership with Indy Parks, Indianapolis Animal Care Services is offering a free pass into Eagle Creek Park for anyone participating in the Freedom for a Day Program.

“We strongly encourage participants to take our dogs to local parks to allow them to run off some energy while also allowing other people at the park to get to know them,” says Katie Trennepohl, IACS Deputy Director.

“Giving these dogs a chance to get out, not only helps relieve and reduce kennel stress, it also allows a potential adopter to see how the dog acts outside of the shelter environment.”

The Freedom for a Day program launched in March 2019, giving dogs who have been at the shelter for more than 30 days an opportunity to get out of the shelter environment.

Since launching, dozens of dogs have been adopted thanks to the extra attention they receive while outside of the shelter.
