Organizers want to know more about trail use, health factors related to trail use, and the economic impact of trails throughout the state.

The Kennedy King Memorial Initiative will hold their annual program Tuesday in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. The event will commemorate the historic speech delivered by Sen. Robert F. Kennedy in Indianapolis, April 4, 1968 -- the night Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was killed.

Between Dec. 26 and Jan. 31, trees can be dropped off at nine Indy Parks locations.

Indianapolis is now in a tight race with Raleigh, North Carolina to win Beneful's dog park makeover.
The contest, which also includes $5,000 in new equipment, runs through Nov. 1 at 11:59 p.m.

Volunteers will paint, mulch, remove debris/weeds, resurface trails and playgrounds, and assist with other park and facility needs.

Ross Claypool park reopened on the west side of Indianapolis after nine months of underground tunnel construction. Features include a new basketball court and rain garden.

The park is just west of Broad Ripple at 61st and Broadway streets.

Drop-off sites for Christmas trees are now open through Jan. 31 at city parks, thanks to Indianapolis Department of Public Works and Indy Parks.
