Two big early efforts from Mayor Joe Hogsett, a Democrat, won approval from the city-county council Monday night. As did a long-pushed for change to Indianapolis police recruiting policies, but not without some pushback and changes.

The City-County Council passed the ordinance 23-2 Monday that would require the city offer help to homeless people it displaces from camps.

There are several municipal lawmakers leaving the ranks of the Indianapolis City-County Council at the end of this year. There are, naturally, also new names to be added.

Citing concerns from both the current mayor and his selected replacement, a city councilor will pull her proposed $30,000 raise for the position of Indianapolis mayor.

Mayor Greg Ballard doesn't argue against that the salary for mayor of Indy is low compared to other major metros, but the Republican is not entirely on board with a proposed increase being pushed by some city councilors right before new terms begin.

After a lawsuit and months-long bidding process, the same company will continue to supply Indianapolis city departments with electric vehicles.
