State Sen. Ron Grooms (R-Jeffersonville) was first elected to his southern Indiana district in 2010. The Jeffersonville pharmacist authored legislation to address overprescribing of controlled substances and has been a leader in promoting the arts throughout the state.

The Indiana General Assembly has two new members, one a Republican and one a Democrat. Private political caucuses chose people Thursday night to fill the terms of two lawmakers no longer in the legislature.

Rep. Steve Davisson was first elected in 2010. A pharmacist, he served as vice chair on the House Public Health Committee. He had been forced to miss much of the last part of session this year while dealing with cancer.

The proposed Indiana House district map draws six districts that include two current Republican lawmakers.

Fort Wayne's Lana Keesling is now the fourth GOP candidate to announce their campaign. Keesling, a former small business owner, has been city clerk since 2015.

It's still extremely early in the 2024 race for Indiana governor. But the only Republican who's formally announced his bid is trying to stake an early claim in the race.

The group of GOP lawmakers sent a letter to Gov. Eric Holcomb Tuesday. In it, they say students will drop classes, be ostracized from campus and employees will be fired if IU is allowed to mandate the vaccine.
