The money comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Most will go toward housing efforts

The long awaited, Indianapolis operated, Albert G. and Sara I. Reuben Engagement Center will help homeless people find help for their addictions and is projected to save the city millions every year in emergency room and jail expenses.

More than 550 homeless people have died in Marion County since 1996 - when the annual memorial services began.

The Reuben Engagement Center will be open to serve the homeless and mentally ill with addictions December 31st.

Larry Reuben also supported many other causes and organizations in central Indiana, including WFYI Public Media.
