After a lengthy and spirited public debate, the Lafayette City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve an amendment adding gender identity protections to the city's human relations ordinance.

Higher Society of Indiana Inc. says the county violated the First Amendment when the commissioners denied the group's request to hold a June 17 rally on the courthouse grounds.

Indiana Department of Transportation officials believe they have a fix for the closed Interstate 65 bridge in Tippecanoe County. But, it'll still be several more weeks until that's in place.
