The City of Indianapolis recently named a new leader for the Office of Sustainability. Morgan Mickelson talks to reporter Jill Sheridan about the Thrive Indianapolis plan.

An Indianapolis Commission on Environmental Sustainability wrapped up a year of study this week.

The bill would help farmers and foresters who do these practices sell carbon credits on the market. Polluting companies could then buy those credits as a way of offsetting their own emissions.

The system is in place at the Center for Culinary Excellence, where all the catering work at Notre Dame is done, plus two dining halls.

The metro area which incudes Indianapolis, Carmel, and Anderson only made slight improvements in about half of the topics discussed in the report.

The system is scheduled to come online by spring of 2018.
