The 50-acre site around the plant is called Sherman Park. It's one of a few the city is considering to be the home of a new justice center.

In the year since earning the federal designation as a "promise zone", the Near East side neighborhood has attracted a total of $9.6 million in grants from seven federal agencies,and created 110 new jobs.
