A bill that would effectively kill the Indianapolis Blue Line died suddenly Thursday after a compromise was reached between the state legislature and local leaders.

Months of testimony on the bill - much of it in opposition - led to an emotional hearing in the House Roads and Transportation Committee.

A House committee heard testimony Tuesday on a bill that puts a moratorium on dedicated lanes. IndyGo officials say the bill will kill the proposed Blue Line, the city’s third bus rapid transit system.

IndyGo is hosting a series of open houses this week to give residents a chance to check out plans for the Blue Line.

IndyGo is fare-free Tuesday for anyone, with a goal to get to the polls.

IndyGo presented nearly complete plans for Indianapolis’s Blue Line to the public this week – the city’s third bus rapid transit, or BRT, line.

IndyGo has partnered with a local nonprofit and a health care provider to expand its mobile health clinic. The clinic now offers free testing for sexually transmitted infections and a range of other services.
