An aging population is producing a growing number of Alzheimer’s and dementia diagnoses in the state. These increasing numbers have prompted first year students at the IU School of Medicine in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne to attend training seminars for caring for patients with these diseases.

Indiana University School of Medicine has received $12 million in grant funding from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration to improve its curriculum with a focus on underserved communities.

The study looked at nearly 2 million adult residents tested for COVID-19 in Indiana between March 2020 and December 2020. The goal was to identify the communities that need the most public health intervention and support during and after the pandemic.

The Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus had a 5 percent enrollment drop to about 26,000 students.

The latest figures released by the university show 87.4 percent of all students and employees at its campuses across the state were at least partially vaccinated as of Thursday.

Responsibilty for renaming rests with the IU Naming Committee and the IU Board of Trustees and with Bloomington Plan Commission, which will hear the proposed names and take public comment at a hearing, to be scheduled later.
