Indiana's 21st Century Scholar program offers income-eligible Hoosier students up to four years of full tuition at certain Indiana colleges. In 2014-2015 school year, the number of 21st Century Scholars taking and completing 30 credit hours per year increased by 23 percent at four-year colleges and 24 percent at two-year colleges.

The Indiana General Assembly created the STEM Teacher Recruitment Fund in 2013. This year's grants will help fund special training for the teachers in the STEM subjects, dual credit credentials, mentoring programs and retain teachers.

Indiana will request a five year extension for when high school teachers are required to hold a master's degree and additional college credits so they can teach dual credit courses.

A panel of educators, lawmakers and higher education officials met Tuesday to discuss how to deal with an impending policy change that one K-12 leader said will "decimate" the dual credit options for high school students.

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education has invited every public and private college in the state to take part in the nation's first statewide Gallup-Indiana survey of undergraduate satisfaction.
