Hoosier Lottery officials aren't saying much about the General Assembly blocking the lottery from offering online games.

The Hoosier Lottery wont be adding online games anytime soon as lawmakers added new language to state law that stops expansion into i-lottery without their authorization.

Legislative leaders are now expressing some skepticism over the Hoosier Lottery offering online gaming.

The move comes after a report by the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette that the lottery planned to forge ahead on “iGaming” without legislative action.

Indiana lawmakers are looking to block the Hoosier Lottery from starting online games or ticket sales without their permission.

Lottery officials expected to collect about $1.3 billion in the fiscal year that ended in June. It collected more than $1.7 billion.

The Hoosier Lottery is on track to break sales and revenue records this year, delivering more money than ever back to the state.

Currently, Powerball jackpot drawings are every Wednesday and Saturday. Beginning Aug. 23, Powerball numbers will also be drawn every Monday, giving Hoosiers a third chance each week to win.

Sales for daily draw and big jackpot games such as Powerball and Mega Millions are expected to finish 19 percent ahead of last year.

Lottery officials were predicting a revenue shortfall as recently as May. But the Hoosier Lottery just barely cleared its budget goal about $212,000 more than projected.
