Free immunization clinics will be available on the south side of Indianapolis this summer.

A northwestern Indiana hospital said it will close its emergency room Saturday, a day after an Indiana Court of Appeals judge issued a stay of a lower court ruling that it must operate those services for nine more months.

Funding from Illinois could help Northwest Indiana's largest city keep its emergency room open.

The emergency room at Franciscan Health in Hammond will stop taking ambulances at 6 a.m. on Dec. 23, according to a hospital spokesperson. Then on Dec. 31 all emergency room services will come to an end.
