Overdose deaths in southern Indiana's Clark County dropped from 90 to 60 between 2016 and 2017, a 33 percent decrease, according to preliminary data.

The Clark County Health Department is waiting on final numbers but said tests so far show 60 drug-related deaths in 2017. That compares to 90 in 2016.

From May 2016 to May 2017, Indiana saw a 28.6 percent rise in deaths, while the national rate increased by about 17 percent.

The County Council has approved buying a cooler that can hold up to eight corpses.
