Parents and a principal are calling on Indianapolis Public Schools to change enrollment polices that lead to a disproportionate number of white students at the district’s most popular choice programs.

An external review on the death of a Black female doctor found the medical management and technical care she received from Indiana University Health did not contribute to her death. But the review also found a lack of empathy and compassion in the delivery of her care, according to a news release from IU Health on Wednesday.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, one of the area's largest youth organizations, is in need of volunteers to serve as role models.

More than 100 volunteers will participate in a Day of Service in Indianapolis on Saturday, Aug. 5 by painting 50 utility poles to reflect the many countries represented by people within the International Marketplace.

Separate meetings will be held for students, staff and faculty. An all-campus meeting will complete the day's events.
