The Indiana Youth Institute said there’s some good and some bad in this year’s Kids Count Data Book. Among the positives: Indiana’s median household income grew and child poverty is at its lowest in a decade.

A new national report paints a picture of how kids’ overall well-being has changed in recent years. In education, the report said students are struggling to overcome pandemic learning loss and factors like poverty, trauma and school absences.

The poverty rate in the U.S. has risen dramatically in the year since pandemic benefits ran out — and the child poverty rate has more than doubled, according to U.S. Census Bureau's annual data on poverty, income and health insurance released Tuesday.
