Senate Bill 313 -- banning abortions based on race, gender or disability -- passed the full Senate earlier this session, but it couldn't get a hearing in the House. So, a Senate committee revived 313 in the form of an amendment to a House bill that deals with the disposal of fetal tissue.

A bill currently moving through the Indiana legislature would require all fetal remains to be cremated, interred, or both.

The state senate passed a bill that would bar women from aborting a pregnancy based on the fetus' race, gender or disability.

The bill is virtually identical to one that didn't pass last year. It bans abortions less than 20 weeks into term, but only if the patient's motivation is based on race, gender, disability, or the possibility of disability.

More than a hundred people gathered Tuesday outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Indianapolis, joining other rallies around the state and the country in a call to cut off federal funding from the reproductive health care provider.
