Beautiful Moment: Oaks Academy

At the Oaks Academy at 23rd and Park, school leaders imagined an outdoor space enriching the educational experience of its young students. With vision, and a lot of hard work, parents built a gorgeous custom shelter. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful eliminate the expansive, hot blacktop ad in its place planted an urban forest. Today, the grounds are not only a school playground, but also a neighborhood park, graced with native gardens featuring flowering milkweed for the monarch butterflies, an earthen ampitheater, and a simple, natural play space that sparks the imagination.
