Beautiful Moment: Lynhurst

Educator Chris Moore came to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful with a dream for the Lynhurst 7th and 8th Grade Learning Center Campus. In a neighborhood full of veterans and active duty military, Chris believed the school's landscape could honor the surrounding community. Today, a veteran's garden comprised of five specific areas, for each military branch, are delineated with native plants, and an evergreen hedge. The Straight edge of the evergreen is reminiscent of the call to attention in cadence. Simple materials such as a crushed limestone walk and limestone benches set the tone for reflection. This thoughful and authentic space greets every student, visitor and family that enters.
