A man has been shot following a pursuit with Beech Grove police officers.
At about 12:20 p.m. Friday, officers initiated a pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle after attempting a traffic stop, according to Indiana State Police Public Information Officer John Perrine.
During the pursuit, Beech Grove police used maneuvers to try and stop the vehicle, and the vehicle’s driver allegedly rammed into at least one police vehicle, Perrine said. The pursuit ended near Emerson Avenue and Raymond Street, on the city’s southeast side.
According to Perrine, at least one shot was fired by a Beech Grove police officer, and the man who was driving the reported stolen vehicle has a gunshot wound injury. None of the officers involved were injured.
The man who was shot is currently in stable condition, Perrine said. The Indiana State Police is investigating the shooting. The area is expected to be shut down for several hours.
