John Lechleiter

Working his way up from Senior Organic Chemist in Process Research and Development, John Lechleiter is now President and Chief Executive Officer of Eli Lilly and Company, as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Under his leadership, Lilly has climbed to Diversity Inc's Top 50 list. Mr. Lechleiter has also navigated Lilly through some of its most challenging times, with patents expiring on four of its largest products. He credits much of his leadership philosophy to Sir John Harvey-Jones who said the most important aspects of leadership are courage and physical stamina.
