Sunday’s winter storm brought more than a foot of snow to communities south of Indianapolis and the biggest daily snowfall in Indianapolis since February 2022. The National Weather Service continues the storm warning into Monday.
While snowfall decreases, National Weather Service Indianapolis senior meteorologist Mike Ryan says bitterly cold temperatures will become the focus.
“Right now there is confidence that we will see multiple nights with lows near zero, if not below zero, and also below zero wind chills,” Ryan said.
That cold weather and wind will also mean it will take longer to clear all roads. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 725 president Steve Quick says it might take crews a few passes.
“It’s going to be a few days after the snow stopped before you probably can see some really progress on the road,” Quick said.
Quick asks drivers to be patient and give space to those working to clear the roads.

The Winter Storm Warning is set to expire at 7 p.m. Monday.
