Indianapolis drivers will face another Interstate closure as parts of I-465 are slated to close for repairs this month.
I-465 will partially close between I-70 and I-65 on Indianapolis' southside from Sept. 14 to Oct. 8.
The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to repair four bridges and patch concrete pavement during the closure. The westbound and eastbound lanes will be closed at different times, so at no point will I-465 be shut down entirely.
INDOT says if only a few lanes were closed at a time the project could take six months, as opposed to several weeks. The agency says it will also lower costs and protect construction workers and drivers.
INDOT will host a public meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the University of Indianapolis’ Schwitzer Student Center to answer questions about the closure.
