The Indianapolis City-County Council met for its monthly meeting Monday night.
A resolution was heard that calls on residents to peacefully coexist in the face of local, national and international conflict.
Faith leaders and several councilors spoke in favor of the proposal, including Councilor Leroy Robinson.
“Residents of all backgrounds are called upon and energetically engaged across even our deepest differences, not in isolation, but in collaboration and relationship to one another," Robinson said.
The council withdrew another resolution to support a U.S. backed ceasefire plan. Pro-Palestinian protesters were removed from the meeting after they spoke out against the move.
Two proposals received final approval by the council — one that creates a new housing TIF district for the Norwood Neighborhood, and another that makes the Indianapolis Animal Care Services a separate agency.
