The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has a new video series featuring footage from officers’ body cameras.

IMPD Lt. Shane Foley said residents will be able to see the various situations officers face day to day.

“We thought it was really important to use the body cameras, not only for transparency and investigative purposes, but to find an opportunity to show citizens the encounters that we have,” Foley said.

The “Sworn to Serve” videos are available on IMPD’s Facebook page, YouTube and Twitter.

The first video in the series shows officers assisting a man who was sitting in the middle of E. 38th Street near its intersection with N. Franklin Road last month.

IMPD officers have been equipped with body cameras since 2020. The department hopes to add to the video series each month.
