Old Locomotive Donated To Wabash Valley Railroad Museum

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — A 71-year-old railroad locomotive has been donated to the Wabash Valley Railroad Museum in western Indiana.

Bill Foster, president of the Haley Tower Historical & Technical Society, says Harbor Rail Services Co. of Pasadena, California, donated the General Electric side-rod driven engine to the society's railroad museum.

Foster says the 1947 vintage locomotive was once owned by Public Service Indiana, now Duke Energy, where it was used to move coal cars around a power-generating station.

The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports it most recently was used at a rail car repair facility owned by Harbor Rail Services in Clinton.

The 29-foot-long locomotive arrived in Terre Haute by truck last week.

The railroad museum is open on weekends from May through October, from noon to 4 p.m.

Kyle Larson races to his 1st Brickyard 400 victory, making a late charge through the field

Kyle Larson made a late charge through the field, managed to get his car refired after a red flag and won the final two restart battles Sunday before coasting to his first Brickyard 400 victory under caution. Larson took the lead when Brad Keselowski ran out of fuel and pulled off the track just before the second-to-last restart and beat pole winner Tyler Reddick at the end with the yellow flag out. Larson won in his first trip back to the speedway since trying to become the fifth driver to complete 1,100 miles of racing on the same May day, at Indy and Charlotte, North Carolina. Larson won for the fourth time this season and took the points lead from Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott.

Lafayette Symphony Orchestra picks new leader, makes history as first African American in the role

After a two year search, the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra has selected a new conductor and artistic director. WFYI’s Abriana Herron spoke with Kellen Gray who will become the orchestra’s first African American conductor and the second Black artistic leader of a professional orchestra in the state.

Caitlin Clark rallies Fever past Liberty 83-78 with first triple-double by WNBA rookie

Caitlin Clark posted the first triple-double by a rookie in WNBA history to rally Indiana to an 83-78 victory over New York on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, snapping the Fever's nine-game losing streak to the Liberty. Clark finished with 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds for Indiana (9-13). Aliyah Boston finished with 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting and had eight rebounds for the Fever. Sabrina Ionescu scored 22 to lead New York, which had won five straight games. Betnijah Laney-Hamilton added 20 points, Clark, the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft, was one rebound shy of a triple-double two games ago in an 88-82 road victory over the Phoenix Mercury.
