Fallen U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Humberto Sanchez will be honored at a memorial service Saturday in Westfield.

Sanchez is from Logansport. He was one of 13 American service members killed in August in an attack on the airport in Kahul, Afghanistan.

A memorial stone will be dedicated in the Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial, which honors 210 Hoosiers who were killed after 9/11 in the line of duty as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The family of Cpl. Sanchez will be present at the service.

Westfield City Council member, Colonel Scott Willis said Sanchez’s name will be the final one added to the memorial.

“These are Hoosiers. Hoosier Men and Women who raised their hand, wrote a blank check to the U.S government up to including their life and sacrificed everything for others, " Willis said.

The ceremony is open to the public. It will take place at 3 p.m. at Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial, 401 N. Union St., Westfield.
Additional parking will be available at Christ United Methodist Church.
