Lane Closures Coming To NB I-65 In Johnson County

The Indiana Department of Transportation says it plans to install a test section of barrier wall delineators Friday along the right side of northbound Interstate 65 in southern Johnson County.

The northbound I-65 lane will be closed to traffic at mile marker 86.06 for approximately 30 minutes --beginning at 10 a.m. -- while workers affix A-shaped metal delineators to concrete wall sections.

INDOT says the reflective delineators mounted on pre-cast concrete barrier wall sections are intended to help motorists navigate through construction zones during nighttime hours.

Existing delineators are secured to concrete walls by an adhesive.  But snow-ice operations and occasional vehicular contact require numerous replacements.  INDOT’s Office of Material Management is looking to see if the 2½ -inch and 4-inch A-shaped delineators being tested -- which are mechanically affixed with screws and bolts -- improve durability and service life.

Motorists can learn about highway work zones and other traffic alerts at indot.carsprogram.org, 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or 511 from a mobile phone.
