Indy Pride plans to return to in-person events this year after the festival and parade were canceled the last two years due to COVID-19.
Indy Pride Executive Director Shelly Snider said the organization is actively monitoring COVID-19 developments, but felt it was important to gather in-person this year.
“Our community struggles a lot with being isolated and these last two years there’s been extreme amounts of isolation and we felt it was really important for the LGBTQ+ community to be able to gather in a safe, in person space,” Snider said.
Volunteers are needed to join both the festival and parade planning.
“We are looking for people not only to be physical labor, but we are also looking for people to help lead some committees,” Snider said.
Both events are planned for June 11. Information about additional Indy Pride month programming will be announced in the coming weeks.
Snider said Indy Pride will make final determinations on all health and safety protocols closer to each of the planned events.
