The bridge deck is removed from the I-70 bridge over Commerce
INDOTThe Pine Street entrance ramp to Interstate70 Eastbound will open Saturday morning after being closed since late July.
The entrance ramp closure made it safe for crews to work. The work done has been new pavement and demolition and reconstruction of three new bridges.
“The North Split reconstruction project will provide safer, more free-flowing travel for the thousands of motorists who use the interchange each day. Once complete, the new system will take up a smaller footprint and increase the walkability of surrounding downtown Indianapolis neighborhoods,” INDOT said in a press release.
The Pine Street to Interstate 65 Northbound connection remains closed.
With the reopening of the Pine Street ramp, there are a couple options for drivers to get into and out of Downtown Indianapolis:
Access into downtown:
- I-70 WB collector/distributor (C/D) ramp to Michigan Street
- I-70 WB to MLK/West Street
- I-65 SB to Meridian Street
- I-65 NB to Washington Street
- All existing ramps on I-70 west of South Split
Access out of downtown:
- Pine Street to I-70 EB
- Delaware/11th Street to I-70 EB
- Meridian St. to I-65 NB
- All existing ramps to I-65 SB/I-70 WB south of South Split
