The 2024 Indiana Civics Summit was held Thursday in Indianapolis, aiming to cultivate better civic engagement throughout the state.
This is the second annual summit of its kind, hosted by the Indiana Bar Foundation, a statewide organization that works to increase accessibility to civic resources.
A large focus of The 2024 Indiana Civics Summit was voter registration and turnout among young voters.
Kaelie Randolph, a 24-year-old attendee, believes younger voters lose interest in local politics because they don’t feel heard by politicians.
"I think that reaching out to them, reminding them that local engagement is equally important as national engagement, and can even impact them a little bit more, can be incredibly helpful to get change passed," she said.
The event included several panel discussions and resources about the state's civic health.
