Hamilton County Tracking Crime With CrimeReports.com

Hamilton County Tracking Crime With CrimeReports.com

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with an online crime tracking company to allow residents to search for and report crimes more easily.

CrimeReports.com collects information directly from the Hamilton County Public Safety Communications Center and plots it on a local map. Locations are provided by neighborhood block to protect privacy.

“While we have provided our calls for service in list form on our website for years, Crime Reports offers the public a more interactive way to view the information,” Sheriff Bowen said in a statement.

Citizens can use filtering options, including dates and types of incidents.  Users can also choose to receive alerts from the site, which can monitor activity in specific locations and track the presence of individuals on the Sex and Violent Offender Registry.

The new service is intended to increase crime prevention in the area and assist deputies in tracking overall crime trends.
