It may be a white Christmas across Central Indiana this year.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Puma said a strong weather system will move through the state on Thursday and Friday morning. But forecasters are still trying to determine exactly what conditions Hoosiers will face.
“Our confidence in whether we're going to get snow or not at this point is a little low. We have high confidence, though, that we are certainly going to see a system going through the area,” Puma said. “But just where that snow is going to set up. We're not so sure about it yet.”
One thing Puma is confident about -- we're going to see some very cold temperatures for the weekend.
“We're looking for high temperatures in Indianapolis in the single digits, only around 8 [degrees fahrenheit]. And on Saturday night right now, that'd be Christmas Eve we're looking at low, low temperatures right around zero,” Pum said. “And you know, if some areas do get a snowpack, it could be even colder.”
Forecasters encourage everyone to pay a little extra attention to the weather forecast over the next couple of days and make alternative plans if travel conditions turn hazardous.
