For the 4th year in a row, WFYI Public Media, Indianapolis, was named Station of Excellence at the 47th Annual Emmy Awards of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Lower Great Lakes chapter, held in Sandusky, Ohio, on Saturday, June 18. WFYI is the only station in the three-state region (Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania) to achieve this honor for four consecutive years.
In addition to this prestigious award, WFYI also received 6 regional Emmys for a wide array of productions and collaborations by the station and its partners, including the half-hour special on former Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut, Bill Hudnut: Twilight Reflections, Evening Meditations, which includes conversations with the former mayor and his wife Bev on the highlights of his career, and the twilight years of his life.
WFYI also won honors for documentary, Leaves of Change, about the evolution of tea in China; the coverage of Indianapolis’ showcase violin competition, Fireworks: The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis 2014; and works in partnership with the Indiana Department of Education, Inside Indiana Business, and Artrageous with Nate.
