WFYI is powered by everyday people with a commitment to trusted journalism, inspiring stories and lifelong learning. We love serving our community as public media professionals, and also love taking you behind the scenes of WFYI's headquarters. Today, meet Tasha Gibson, WFYI's Education Specialist on our Community Engagement team.
What does your work at WFYI usually entail?
My work involves listening to people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and sharing what I learn with the outstanding team of education reporters. I also get to work with an amazing team of community engagement professionals.
Do you have any advice for those who'd like to follow in your footsteps?
I would tell someone to keep listening. There are several ways to listen, but every type of listening can be a practice. I still have a lot to learn too. Thankfully we can practice listening no matter what we do.
What do you enjoy most about working at WFYI?
What I enjoy most about working at WFYI is being able to work together with others in the station and in the community. Collaboration and partnerships are my favorite way to work. At WFYI, I get to do both.
When you're not at work, what can you often be found doing?
I enjoy walking my dog, Callie, sewing, going to outdoor cultural events and listening to podcasts and audiobooks.
If you had to take one WFYI program with you to a desert island, what would it be and why?
I would take every single season of Antiques Roadshow because there is history and humor in each episode. Plus, I enjoy the mystery of the appraisal.
