As a member of WFYI, you power the stories you love and rely on; but someone has to produce, distribute, fundraise for and promote those stories. Each month here in the Insiders' Magazine, you'll see a series introducing you to the team here at WFYI. Learn about journalists, radio producers, administrative specialists and all the dedicated individuals who — alongside your support — bring you the shows you care about.
What does your work at WFYI usually entail?
My big focus thus far has been on recruitment, which is something that I really enjoy doing. Aside from that, I am a part of onboarding, benefits administration, keeping the station in compliance with a variety of laws/regulations, answering all HR questions and more. I am also a member of the IDE and Employee Engagement committees.
What do you enjoy most about working at WFYI?
I'll go the cheesy route... it's the people. What a fantastic group of humans. I truly enjoy working with all my teammates I've met so far.
Do you have any advice for those who’d like to follow in your footsteps?
Don't give up on finding a positive and supportive work environment! There is no such thing as a picture-perfect career journey.
When you’re not at work, what can you often be found doing?
Honestly... being lazy! Or being very social and busy with plans... there's no in between. I love traveling the globe, going to concerts with friends, and I'm a BIG reader. I am very close with my friends and their kids, my "nieces and nephews", who mean the world to me.
What program on WFYI are you interested in watching/listening to next?
I'm interested in streaming American Experience: The Vote, or Making Black America: Through the Grapevine.
