As a member of WFYI, you power the stories you love and rely on; but someone has to produce, distribute, fundraise for and promote those stories. Each month here in the Insiders' Magazine, you'll see a series introducing you to the team here at WFYI. Learn about journalists, radio producers, administrative specialists and all the dedicated individuals who — alongside your support — bring you the shows you care about.
What does your work at WFYI usually entail?
I produce investigative and explanatory journalism focused on issues directly affecting students, particularly marginalized kids and their families. This includes students with disabilities, students of color, students who identify as LGBTQIA+. I've investigated the use of restraint and seclusion in schools, the politicization of suburban school boards, book censorship at the state and local level, sex education and the ongoing fentanyl crisis that's killing adolescents at an alarming rate. While highlighting harms and injustice and holding powerful people and institutions accountable is a key part of my job, I'm also committed to reporting on potential solutions to these problems.
When you're not at work, what can you often be found doing?
I am an avid cyclist and yoga practitioner. I also teach yoga classes at YogaSix Indianapolis. I love traveling, and spending time with my husband, friends and cats. I'm a big fan of prestige television, cocktails, and cooking vegetarian meals.
What program on WFYI are you interested in watching/listening to next?
IA is my favorite program on WFYI. The show consistently covers important issues (often stuff that isn't being covered in-depth elsewhere) with empathy and diverse viewpoints. Plus, one of my best friends is a producer!
