As a member of WFYI, you power the stories you love and rely on; but someone has to produce, distribute, fundraise for and promote those stories. Each month here in the Insiders' Magazine, you'll see a series introducing you to the team here at WFYI. Learn about journalists, radio producers, administrative specialists and all the dedicated individuals who — alongside your support — bring you the shows you care about.
What does your work at WFYI usually entail?
So far, a little bit of everything! In the past week, I've interviewed mayors, edited policy desk stories and spent an afternoon reporting on an Indianapolis art fair. Every day is different.
Do you have any advice for those who'd like to follow in your footsteps?
I made a significant career change when I decided to become a journalist about five years ago. It's never too late to shift your life path!
What do you enjoy most about working at WFYI?
The newsroom is full of people who are a joy to work with, both personally and professionally. It's such a great team.
When you're not at work, what can you often be found doing?
I have a big family — I'm the oldest of seven and have 10 nieces and nephews — and I spend a lot of time with them! Otherwise I love a good book, a good movie or a good long walk through the woods.
If you had to take on WFYI program with you to a desert island, what would it be and why?
As an erstwhile Morning Edition host, I am absolutely required to say Morning Edition!
