In this Sponsor Spotlight, we spoke with Maggie Stevens, President & CEO of Foster Success.
What role does your organization play in the community?
Foster Success hears, supports and empowers teens and young adults transitioning out of foster care. Our vision is an Indiana where all teens and young adults who have experienced foster care are self-sufficient by age 25. We offer a variety of programs in five impact areas: Educational Success, Financial Empowerment, Health & Well- Being;,Workforce Readiness, and Youth Engagement.
Why do you support WFYI? What role does public media play in your life?
Foster Success supports WFYI because WFYI supports us. We are both nonprofits offering a crucial, one-of-a-kind public service to the community.
What value does WFYI provide the community?
WFYI provides a source for news to those who otherwise may not be able to access it, and provides organizations like Foster Success a wide platform to reach more young people, policy makers and partners.
Why does your organization support WFYI?
WFYI’s news is real, local, with in-depth reporting, answering the listeners real questions like, “How does it affect me, my family and those around me, today and tomorrow?” As an underwriter, supporting WFYI has created community goodwill because our firm is recognized as supporting a valued community asset and resource. WFYI makes me proud to be a listener and a corporate underwriter for more than 20 years.
Which is your favorite WFYI program, and why?
Well, I can’t recommend just one. So, Morning Edition and All Things Considered are my go-to for news updates. And I really enjoy Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me on Saturday and Sunday, it’s fun and the perfect mix of news, current events and entertainment.
