Tell us about your organization and the role you play there?
Don Woodley and George Farra co-founded Woodley Farra Manion Portfolio management in 1995. Mike Manion joined the firm in early 1999. The firm is a SEC-registered investment adviser, with over $1.4 billion under management. The firm has grown steadily over the past 26 years and now has eleven staff, including five Chartered Financial Analysts (plus one close to attaining his CFA). We manage client portfolios primarily using common stocks. We perform all our research, integrating fundamental, quantitative, and technical analysis. Stocks we purchase for client accounts are larger companies, the majority paying dividends, with a value orientation.
What role does your company or organization play in the community?
The firm has been actively involved in various community organizations since its founding in 1995. We believe volunteering time and talent (along with treasure!) provides our staff with the chance to lend their expertise while learning more about the organization’s impact on the community. Areas of focus include several churches, Jordan YMCA, the Humane Society, Washington Township and Carmel School Board Foundations.
Why does your organization support WFYI?
WFYI programs embody many of the community organizations we support, including early childhood education, science, local culture, and travel. The entertainment segments give all of us welcome relief from a day’s news cycle.
Which is your favorite WFYI program and why?
The British Telly Night takes viewers across the pond for top-notch comedies and drama. Viewers can get an entire evening’s entertainment in one sitting!
