CLCR Expansion, Fatal Overdoses Decrease, Indiana Unemployment Rate, Holiday Heart Attacks, DC HOPWA Program

The Clinician-led Community Response Team started operations in July. The team works in three-person units and responds to a variety of calls, like welfare checks and connecting people with mental health resources. Fatal overdoses fell in 2022—the first time since 2018—according to the latest Next Level Recovery Progress Report. Indiana’s unemployment rate ticked up a tenth of a percentage point last month, to 3.7 percent—the highest the rate has been in more than two years. The holiday season brings a lot of joy, but also an increased risk for fatal health conditions such as heart attacks. Studies have found that heart attack deaths spike around this time of the year. A Damien Center housing program that targets older people living with HIV and AIDS finds success.
