The Indianapolis City-County Council met for the final time in 2024 Monday night. The criminal trial for the police officers charged in the death of Indianapolis resident Herman Whitfield III started Monday. The U.S. Department of Energy announced a conditional commitment to loan up to $7.5 billion for two electric vehicle battery plants in Kokomo. Urban forests in Indianapolis are at risk and a campaign to purchase and preserve forest land took action this past city budget season.
