David Breashears

An accomplished filmmaker, explorer, author, and mountaineer, David Breashears has not only reached the summit of Mount Everest five times, he also filmed the first IMAX footage of Earth’s highest point for the film EVEREST. As the Founder and Executive Director of GlacierWorks, he uses art, science, and adventure to raise public awareness about the consequences of climate change in the Greater Himalayan Region. Mr. Breashears has lectured throughout North America, Canada, Europe, and Asia sharing his experiences of the ascent of Mount Everest in May 1996 when a ferocious storm killed eight people.
