In the winter of 2019, I set out with my wife to retrace the route of my grandfather, Silvio Pedri, who was captured by the Wehrmacht in the Battle of Metz during World War II. He never talked about his experience as a prisoner of war, but he did leave behind an archive of documents, letters, and photos that provided just enough clues for us to set out on the journey to fill in the rest. This is a preview of the full-length film, Dear Sirs that we made documenting our journey to tell Silvio's story.
