What Could Police Reform Look Like?
June 09, 2020
Protesters across Indiana have made their call to reform policing clear over the last two weeks. Some have called for hard and fast changes to rules around accountability and use of force. Others argue that the institution's flaws are so deep and systemic that rather than searching for a way to fix what exists, we should re-imagine entirely what public safety looks like in the U.S.
We talk to leaders from local Black Lives Matter groups about the changes they want to see. We also hear from a criminal justice expert, and IUPD’s first chief diversity officer explains how recruitment and training are handled there.
